Off the deluxe edition of Kodak Black’s “Project Baby 2.”
As it stands, “Projects” is a well-executed co-sign from one of Southern rap’s great A&Rs, as Birdman shows up to give props to Kodak, who’s easily one of the biggest breakout stars from his region in recent memory. Co-sign or not, Kodak holds his own with an emotionally charged verse that details his struggles before he found a way out through rap. The timeless organ sounds make for a backdrop that’s as cross-generational as it comes. The title may find fans revisiting Cash Money Millionaires classic “Project Bitch,” a simpler time when Wayne and Baby’s relationship was still harmonious.
